Sleeper Retained Lawn
A new build property with a very badly thought out garden, left this client with an unusable area of garden where the ground had to fall almost a metre in a very short area. Added to that a very poor quality job of lawn laying, and something had to be done. The solution was a retaining wall built of softwood sleepers, with steps down to a hoggin path along the pre-existing fence. The now retained lawn was dug out and re-laid on a well-prepared surface.
Project Year: 2018
Project Cost: £10,001 - £25,000
Country: United Kingdom
Area: Beckington
The upper level of the garden is retained by new treated softwood sleepers fixed to strong timber posts. A timber board protects the boundary fence from any build-up of water
A Cotswold path-gravel (hoggin) is compacted to create a solid and low-maintenance path along the bottom of the wall, with steps down from the lawn. A new planting border is created at the top.
A new lawn is laid to complete the transformation.
