Modernising A Classic
A classic Georgian House in Bath. Original features dominate the garden but the client wanted a cost-effective modern solution to terracing within the space. Heavily constructed sleeper walls retain the banks contrasting with the original features and perennial planting with grasses adds a new modern dimension. The Upper terrace has also been replanted with cobbles and pebbles adding texture to the scheme.

Contrasting sleeper retainers provide a practical solution to major level changes, simple repetitions of perennial planting with cobbles and pebbles adding texture below
Sleepers form a strong line and contrasting colour from the original garden features. Variegated Hakonechloa grasses and deep purple salvia blooms form a string band across the space.
The natural colour of the wood brings an additional feature to the space.
The backdrop of climbing roses, phormiums and day lilies only further enhances the scheme.
The upper terrace is sparsely planted with an arid style scheme. Cobbles and pebbles complete the look.
